4. Our legal bases for processing
Where UK data-protection law applies, we process personal data where it is necessary to perform a contract with you, take steps at your request before entering into a contract, comply with legal obligations, protect our legitimate interests in operating and securing ScanMint, or where you have given consent.
Our legitimate interests include operating the service, preventing fraud and misuse, keeping our systems secure, responding to enquiries, and improving ScanMint. We only rely on legitimate interests where they are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.

- professional advisers, regulators or authorities where legally required.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we will use appropriate safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.
8. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, meeting legal, accounting and reporting requirements, resolving disputes and enforcing agreements.
Account and QR-code records are normally retained while your account remains active. After account closure, we may retain limited information where needed for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention or record-keeping purposes.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
